The Documenting Hope Project is an innovative not-for-profit project that aims to test and document a results-oriented model of healthcare that takes an integrative look upstream at the causes of chronic illness, rather than downstream at the symptoms. There is a great deal of anecdotal evidence indicating that individuals with chronic conditions, even autism, can fully recover. The Documenting Hope Project seeks to test and explore, through proper and rigorous scientific methodology, the underpinnings of these anecdotal successes.
In 2014, DHP aims to enroll and support fourteen children (in five locations throughout the US) through a healing and recovery journey. The range of chronic illnesses will include autism, ADHD, asthma, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, mood disorders, obesity/type II diabetes, and atopic disease/eczema. Up to seven of these children will be featured in an eye-opening and groundbreaking feature-length documentary film, Documenting Kids, that will spread the much-needed message of hope: Recovery Is Possible.
The Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation
The Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation supports health and wellness related causes that directly impact the neighborhoods where our customers and team members live, work and play. FEED OUR FUTURE FOUNDATION
How It All Got Started
In 2012, a few moms and volunteers shared a heavy heart for childhood hunger. After many conversations, prayers, research, and community support, Feed Our Future was formed in hopes of making a difference.
Feed hungry kids in Fresno, California.
Expand Feed Our Future program to reach multiple sites around Fresno County, feeding children that need it the most while providing an opportunity for the local community to join us in feeding hungry little bellies.
For many children, free or reduced-price meal programs at school are the only meals they'll have each day. Unfortunately, hunger doesn't take the weekend off.
Fresno County is considered the Appalachia of the West with 26% of the population living below poverty level (family of four with an annual income of less than $24,000). In some areas, over 92% of kids qualify for the free meal program through school.
Food insecurity is harmful to all people, but it is particularly devastating to children. Proper nutrition is critical to a child's development. Not having enough of the right kinds of food can have serious implications. Even short term episodes of hunger can cause lasting damage to child development, putting children at risk for range of cognitive, behavioral, emotional, and physical problems.
Every week our objective is the same - provide food to hungry kids. When a child's belly is full of nutrition, an array of possibilities await. School administration has attributed better test scores, improved reading skills, positive behavior, enriched health and increased attendance to Feed Our Future.
We are impacting children's lives by providing the necessity of weekend food.
In this raw milk renaissance and revival, rational standards, farmer-friendly food safety plans and a RAWMI seal of approval are needed. RAWMI will add the objectivity of third-party certification, and use the transparency of the internet to present listed farmers’ bacteria counts and food safety plans for all consumers to see and appreciate. RAWMI answers this desperate need and call. RAWMI celebrates responsible raw milk production as America begins to repair its soil and rebuild American families’ health and immune systems.
The mission of the Raw Milk Institute is to improve the safety and quality of raw milk and raw milk products through training and mentoring farmers; establishing raw milk guidelines; improving raw milk accessibility and production transparency; and education, outreach and research.”
As consumers discover these healing attributes found only in raw milk from clean and caring dairies, industry and its regulatory agencies have stepped in to protect processors and CAFO dairy systems from falling market share as consumers “dollar vote” for raw milk. These anti-raw milk industrial efforts have been coupled with cooperative FDA agency enforcement politics to stop this growth of farmer and consumer connection and raw milk consumption. As a favor to industry, the FDA and other government agencies refuse to acknowledge that there are “Two Raw Milks in America” – raw milk produced with pasteurization in mind, and raw milk intended to be consumed raw – and insist that all raw milk is dirty and must be pasteurized. Experience has shown this to be untrue; it has been clearly demonstrated in California and other states that when proper care and conditions are used and when standards and testing are implemented with a RAMP food safety plan, raw milk can be extremely safe.
This is why RAWMI was born. In 2011, a “nutritional civil rights movement” is rising. People are awakening to realize that the American population is being made sick by highly processed, dead, sterilized, immune-depressing, highly allergenic foods. Consumers are searching for farmers who can supply unprocessed, clean raw milk. In this search the consumers are confused, and most farmers lack training and education, and have little guidance from nonexistent or conflicting standards. Industry celebrates this confusion and does all that it can to continue it. They know that when farmers forge together in alliances and embrace good raw milk policies, the end of pasteurization as the only process to bring dairy products to America will be near. After all, pasteurization was an 18th century answer to filthy swill milk that killed 50% of the children that drank it. We now have flushing toilets, clean water, hot water, testing systems, green pastures, an expanded knowledge of biology, and experience. We can now produce clean, safe raw milk, and consumers are demanding it more and more as they abandon highly processed allergenic and lactose intolerance-producing pasteurized dairy products.
