IMPORTANT UPDATE: 12.12.11

It is official that we will not start delivering today because CDFA is still working on their lab results for our products. Today, CDFA DID give us our environmental (food contact surfaces) lab results and they came back negative for E.COli 0157-H7.

IMPORTANT STATUS UPDATE: 12.9.11

CDFA came for their FINAL inspection and we were approved to start bottling with a 100% plant score! This is our BEST score yet! However, we are NOT approved to start distribution, but we are very, very close.

CDFA reported us passing the 1st part of a 2 part test. The 2nd part of the test is pending and should be received within the next 2-48 hours. We will be posting ASAP when we have this official notice! OPDC 3rd party test results lead us to believe that we will pass this 2nd test easily.

What this means for FARMERS’ MARKETS:

IF we are approved today, then all weekend farmers’ markets will be open this weekend and product will be distributed to those effected areas, including the so cal hub sale.

IF we are approved Saturday, then Sunday’s farmers’ markets will be open and product will be distributed to those effected areas.

What this means for delivering to STORES:

ONCE WE ARE APPROVED FOR DISTRIBUTION, we will be having mass distribution to all stores within a 3-day period.

PLEASE WATCH OUR FACEBOOK PAGE FOR ALL UPDATES! AS SOON AS WE ARE OFF RECALL, WE WILL POST THE LIST OF STORES AND THEIR DELIVERY DATES. THANK YOU FOR BEING PATIENT AND STANDING BY OUR SIDE.

Status update: 11.30.11

We have received additional environmental test results from our non-dairy locations. (These results are from our 3rd party lab test facility).

Additional to our dairy samples, which were found ALL negative for E. Coli 0157-H7, we sent off samples to be tested from our calf raising locations. Two environmental samples of manure from the calf raising location did detect E. Coli 0157-H7. The fingerprint and strain of this E. Coli is not known at this time.

The Organic Pastures Dairy calf raising location is located separate from our dairy and creamery and is managed as a secure area. Our operations manager, Aaron McAfee, states, “We have separate personnel, equipment and Standard Operating Procedures for the calf raising locations. There is no cross contamination between the calves and dairy/creamery operations. Our RAMP Food Safety program is in full effect and our daily checklists and monitoring system helps us stay on top of all aspects of the operation, including our calf raising.”

Due to immature immune systems, it is very common for calves to carry Salmonella and E. Coli 0157-H7. Studies performed at UC Davis confirm that most calf areas on a dairy are the most likely to have pathogens (Dr. Berge DVM, UC Davis et all).

Organic Pastures Dairy is Animal Welfare Approved and we work hard to provide clean and safe environments for our calves. This program certifies that our animals are raised with the “most stringent” humane animal welfare standards according to the World Society for the Protection of Animals. Farmers who earn the AWA seal benefit from having a third-party verification of their high-welfare practices. In addition to AWA certification, the calves are raised organically as certified by Organic Certifiers. This ensures they are never given antibiotics, powdered milk replacer or any other non-approved supplements.

We are still awaiting the Department of Health Services test results, and we do expect that they will find some detected E. Coli in our calf raising location.

We thank you for your continued support and expect to be back in stores next week.
