About our Herd Health:

We have crafted homeopathic remedies to care of our organic herd. The cows love our natural healing treatments and we know our customers appreciate the extra step towards natural herd care.

Nothing works better than prevention, which is why we take every precaution to keep our cows healthy.  To support the cows’ immune system, we work hard to keep them well nourished and stress-free.  On occasion, our cows become sick.  If needed, we care for our cows naturally with organic approved treatments.  We rely on ancient remedies such as garlic tincture to treat infection.  We use Echinacea, Aloe Vera, minerals, and Vitamin C to support their immune system.  For comfort measures, we use homeopathic remedies such as Belladonna, Hypercium, Aconite, and Calendula to name a few.  During times of illness, our cows are cared for in our hospital pen, which separates them from the rest of the herd.  This allows us to monitor them very closely and prevent the potential spread of illness to our healthy cows.

Blaine, Herd Health Manager, works side by side with her husband Mark, and children Aaron McAfee and Kaleigh Lutz to bring the best raw milk products to our consumers.  Blaine holds her Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing and Masters of Science degree as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Nurse Educator from California State University, Fresno.  Blaine worked as a labor and delivery nurse for 23 years and taught nursing school at Fresno City College.  In 2012, Blaine retired from nursing and teaching to focus her full attention to OP as the Herd Health Manager. As the Herd Health Manager, Blaine is passionate about caring for our animals.  She developed our organic treatment protocols, and works closely with our Herdsman, Quality Assurance Supervisor, Veterinarian, and nutritionist to maintain optimal herd health.

My love for caring for families during childbirth carried over to my love for caring for our cows. The wellbeing of our cows is a very high priority. I have a close bond with all of our cows, and want them to have a wonderful and happy life here on the farm.
