Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger

Dear Governor Schwarzenegger,
On October 8, 2007 you signed AB 1735 which will effectively end commercial sales of raw dairy products in California.
I drink raw milk because I cannot drink pasteurized milk. As of January 2008 I will be drinking no milk unless you work to change this legislation.
My family has seen positive health benefits from raw milk. I realize the concern over pathogenic bacteria in milk, but it just seems to me that if you are concerned about pathogens, you would test for them directly. Science has some great tools at your disposal in that regard.
The coliform family of bacteria contains many beneficial strains of bacteria, strains that build my familyÍs health. Those beneficial bacteria help protect us from pathogenic bacteria that may be in our environment. Pathogens are potentially anywhere, as you know. They travel on luggage and boots and linger on doorknobs. Dietary sources of beneficial bacteria are key to protection against pathogens like E. coli O157: H7 that might be spread all over my house during a house warming party.
My milk has a much more diverse population of beneficial bacteria of any probiotic on the market. Rather than paying a pharmaceutical company for those bacteria and also buying my milk at the market, I just buy my milk from Organic Pastures, a family farm near Fresno.
For specific testimonials about the health impact, you can read them on the Organic Pastures website or you can ask your body-building friends. Raw milk has been discovered in the sports industry as a powerful tool to build strength.
I want to be strong and healthy, Governor. Help me become stronger and more healthy by removing the new coliform requirement in AB 1735.
Sincerely,
Your Name
